I attended Ball State University where I graduated with my BSN degree in 1981.  After a few years of nursing practice I attended the Indiana University School of Nursing on the IUPUI campus where I completed a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist degree with a focus on caring for patients with heart disease.  In 2015 I completed my PhD in education at Indiana State University.

My dissertation was entitled " A COMPARISON OF NURSING EDUCATION PERSPECTIVES ON MEDICATION DOSAGE CALCULATION WITH PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS".  I continue my interest in the topic of nursing dosage calculation and the impact of practice changes.  I also have completed research related to nursing student use of YouTube for learning about pharmacology and medication administration skills.

I have one publication at this time:  Crawford, D. J.  “Is Tablet-Splitting Safe?” (2011). Nursing Made Incredibly Easy, September/October, 9 (5).

I volunteer each summer at the State Special Olympics competition held in Terre Haute.  I most enjoy timing the swimming competition.  I also coordinate and supervise nursing students at immunization clinics where they administer TB tests and immunizations such as influenza.

My current area of expertise is nursing pharmacology and education.ation

Nursing dosage calculation and the use of YouTube by nursing students and teachers.
